The highlight of my week was General Conference. Without a doubt. So Many good talks and so much we can take out of it. And so if you didn't watch it then do better next time! I loved, and I think we can all benefit from it was Elder Holland's talk on Sunday and Sacrament meeting. I loved all the talks on repentance because even as a missionary we repent daily and try to become more like the savior. That's one thing that not many people think about is that missionaries are human too and make mistakes all of the time. We repent too! I also loved President Nelsons talk Sunday morning about life after this world. We have an investigator who has questions and doubts about that and so that will be a good one to go through with her. But all of the talks were so good and so I think that everyone if you have a chance, pick a talk that stood out and read it this week!
Tuesday we had a really cool lesson! We have this investigator and her son is on a mission in Chile! He sent us her as a referral about 5 months ago and so we have been teaching her ever since. She hasn't really progressed but this past Tuesday we were able to have her son face time in and basically teach the lesson with us. His testimony is so strong and she has been awesome ever since. and so hopefully that keeps happening. Little about her son. He comes home this July from his mission. Senior year he was baptized into the church and then about a year later was on a mission! And so having him in on the lesson was a blessing for not only us but especially for his mom.
Then on Thursday I went on exchanges with Elder Johnson in down town El Paso. We had so much fun! We had a regular day with studies and knocking and lessons. But we also went to a birthday party with the biggest pinata! It was a giant pig and it was so funny to watch the kids hit it. I was afraid that the pig was going to break a kid before it was broke. But we diffidently laughed really hard watching it. After the party we were able to go to downtown El Paso! It was so cool. We went when it was light outside but they have lights everywhere and so I can imagine it is a blast and all lit up at night time. It was nice to go on exchanges for a day and learn from other missionaries but to also try and help the people they are teaching in your own personal ways.
I have a little spiritual thought this week. Me and Elder Bostock listen to Hank Smith as we drive around because he is so funny but is so smart with the Gospel. And so we were listening to him this morning and he read Mosiah 18:30. I won't be able to explain it as good as he did but I hope I can get the message across. In the verse, Alma says Waters of Mormon like four or five times. A lot! But he says after all of "how beautiful are they to the eyes of them who there came to the knowledge of their Redeemer" And Hank Smith says, and I totally agree, that he wasn't referring to Mormon the Prophet. He was referring to Waters of Mormon as a place they can come to the knowledge of their Redeemer. And so the name of the Book of Mormon referrers more to a place then rather the Prophet. Through the Book of Mormon, we can come to the knowledge of our Redeemer. And as you make your homes more church centered, make it a "Water of Mormon" and a place where you and your family can come to the knowledge of your Redeemer.
I hope that all made since. Like I said, Hank Smith explained it better but the message is so good I had to share! Estoy agradecido para todo de mis amigos y mi familia. Los amo y que tenga una buena semana!
Elder Jackson
