Another One

This week has been a good week full of miracles and tender mercies from the Lord! So this last week, we had a lot of good cookouts. Man, what a tender mercy... just kidding. But Branch Presidents son got home from his mission in Uruguay and so they had a big cookout at the church and we got invited. I don't know if I have said this before but Fabens Branch is made up of basically two families; The Delgados and Hernandez families. So this cookout was with the Hernandez family. And so like half of the ward was there and it was so fun. We just had hamburgers but all of the Sisters in the ward always make sure you know that there is more. It was just fun to sit and talk with everyone! And then last night we had another cookout with the Delgado family. So the other half of the branch.

And I love cookouts because they just have huge bags of meat that have been sitting in marinade overnight and so they just continually have meat on the grill. We ate with the people that were about our age and had some really fun conversations with them! But as we talked, like three different sisters in the branch came up like three different times each and once again made sure we knew there was more and we could have more. And with cookouts I don't hold back because it is straight meat and I love it so much. And the even better part is that they love you when you eat. And so needless to say, we walked out happy and full and we left them happy because we ate so much food! This is one thing I love!! The cookouts.

Lets see next miracle, Elpidio was baptized! So its been super long and stressful with him. He has had three different missionary championships (as shown in the picture) and it was so good to see him finally baptized! Long story short with him, he was interviewed by our District leader and was going to need another interview with our president. We told Elpidio this and with tears in his eyes says, "well I want to be baptized but not if there is going to be another interview. I feel repented of everything in the past already." And so ever the next like week, we were on the phone with President constantly. Well we got permission to have our District leader finish the interview and then we got the okay on Friday that he could be baptized. If we wouldn't have done the baptism Saturday, we would have waited 2 weeks to do it. So we did it and it was amazing. All the missionaries that had taught him in the past were able to come and it was just a happy day. I am happy and excited to see how the future is for him and the example he will be for his family and friends who are not members.  And then of course on Sunday he was confirmed a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!! We had a member that he knows well confirm him and the blessing that he gave him was so amazing. I think it was just what he needed. So amazing.
Lets conclude with a spiritual thought. I was reading in Alma 48 the other day and verse 15 hit me. So my thought comes from Alma 48:15. "15 And this was their faith, that by so doing God would prosper them in the land, or in other words, if they were faithful in keeping the commandments of God that he would prosper them in the land; yea, warn them to flee, or to prepare for war, according to their danger;" This hit home! We are literally promised when we keep the commandments of God, he will protect us. And with the world we live in today, we NEED His protection. And so keep the commandments!!! You WILL be blessed for it. Love you all have a great week!
